The way you cook, does it achieve the level of art form?

Do you like talking to animals?

Can you parrot the sound of the printer?

Sing under the shower?

Or display by colours clothes or other objects?

Enjoy writing poetry?

Do you leave your signature in the streets?

This workshop seeks to take seriously questions of this calibre and to develop sensitivities that lead us to question the most fundamental aspects of each form of expression:

• Verbal language can also be music or an object in addition to cognitive meaning

• Writing which is drawing,

• Colour is light

• A video projection can convey images, texts or simply be lighting or clothing.

• If silence does not exist…? Music, noise, sound objects, organized… like an Inuit party?

Dance is warmth, which is light or music.

A&C focuses on the dialogue between different languages ​​of expression, such as sound, image, speech, objects, costumes and bodies on stage.

It is a format of research and experimentation with immediate results.

The objective of the workshop is to develop the other diverse expressive talents of the performers and to create a dialogue between these other ways of expression and the physical presence/movements of the performers. We aim to expand this dialogue to include both the stage and the collective.

To do this we will create work groups that will each focus on one of the forms of expression: sound, image, word, objects, costumes and bodies on stage.

These groups will examine the potential of each form of expression, from which point of view we want to focus on it and will look for strategies to be able to put it into practice, also seeking to create codes for the invitation of all the performers to collective improvisations.

We will work with the objects/tools that we have at our disposal and with what we will find along the way during the days of the workshop.

For the workshop we will use with technical material such as a video projector, a sound table and independent devices that allow us to move them around the space, such as Bluetooth speakers, mobile phones, i-pads, wireless screens and lights… as well as clothes, fabrics, cardboard boxes, paper, paint, etc.

The encounter will take place from 1 to 8 March (both days included) from 10 am to 6 pm at Garage29. The day will end with improvisation sessions.
We will work in a reduced group.

Participants will be selected by means of a motivational writing containing wishes and intentions to develop in one or more of those languages of expression. This has to be send to danzalava@gmail.com with contact@garage29-offestival.be in copy.

Registration closes January 31, 2025 and confirmation will be announced to each participant that same weekend February 1-2nd.
