ARTIST IN RESIDENCE. - Amine

Artist is residence is a durational work that challenges the conventional notions of creativity, productivity, and the artist’s place within a capitalistic system. This experimental piece confronts the societal expectation that only lucrative art is valid, spotlighting the often invisible process of making art rather than the final product.
By live streaming the artistic process, Artist is residence blurs the lines between the studio and the theatre, inviting audiences into the traditionally private space of creation. This continuous exposure generates a unique tension, mirroring the anxiety artists face under the constant pressure to produce. It challenges the sanctity of the studio, stripping away the artist’s privacy and redefining the art process as a performance in its own right.
His inspiration for this project came from his fascination with the rise of streaming culture and its profound impact on pop culture.
Platforms like Twitch have transformed everyday moments into live performances, creating intimate connections and communities that influence how we consume and relate to art. He sees streaming as more than just entertainment, it’s a new way to experience art, and he wanted to bring this medium into his own practice. By integrating streaming into Artist is residence, he’s exploring how this live, unfiltered format can reshape the relationship between artist, process, and audience.
Artist is residence ultimately seeks to redefine our understanding of artistic value, urging us to consider the journey of creation as equally significant to the final piece, whether it manifests as a performance, a painting, or a poem.
