SIFTING
This workshop will ask us to pierce into the heart of our unknown, the « hidden », or shadow sides both within ourselves and within our work. Naturally, this work will ask us to develop greater awareness and clarity in our creative processes. From this starting point, we will focus on the dynamic relationship between impulse and action/movement.
Elements of physical, psychological, and emotional risk will be introduces each day, challenging our individual limitations, inviting us to go beyond them, revealing our unique language and presence as performers. Each day will build on the previous so the work will be progressive, culminating in a creative « act » that will result at the end of the week.
The overriding emphasis is on developing within oneself what can be called the « total act » ; a state wherein the performer works toward creating his or her own language of movement as a theatrical act rather than as a technique.
This workshop is open to all actors, dancers and performers.
