Alexandra and Winston’s project is structured around the exploration of two research paths.

A research into size, where the physical relationships related heavily to the difference in length and weight of the dancers involved will be questioned, in an attempt to understand how the anatomy of a specific body affects the outcome of the research. By applying limits, the aim is to discover a capacity for organization and adaptation, as well as virtuoso demonstrations of physical abilities presented in an unusual way.

A research into time, with the idea of inverting it, to develop material that will then be retrograded, something unusual when applied to acrobatic language. An interrogation on the importance of time and synchronization, on the strange difference between the normal and the abnormal in terms of physical embodiment, which can create an intriguing and unusual visual experience for the observer. Creating an opportunity to communicate and create physical compositions that are both beautiful and unusual and in turn help tell a deeper story about what is physically possible and perhaps impossible from the perspective of a human being and their physical limitations.

The residency will be structured in several micro phases of research, focused on a particular movement scenario coupled with a physical restriction.
